Getting started

What exactly is Vidow?

Vidow is a browser extension that finds the video streams behind the page you're viewing and saves them to your computer. It works on the page you already have open, so there's nothing to paste, upload or convert.

Which browsers does it work with?

Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers, including Microsoft Edge, Brave, Opera and Vivaldi. Firefox and Safari aren't supported yet.

Do I need to create an account?

No. There's no sign-up and no profile to fill in. Just install the extension to get started.

Can I try it before paying?

Yes. Install Vidow and try it on your own pages first. When you want every feature, start a plan from inside the extension.

Downloading

Which formats can Vidow download?

Direct files such as MP4 and WebM, adaptive streams such as HLS/m3u8 playlists and MPEG-DASH manifests, and video served through blob URLs or embedded players. As a rule of thumb, if it plays in your browser, Vidow can usually save it.

Can it handle HLS and m3u8 streams?

Yes. Vidow reads the playlist, downloads the segments in parallel and joins them into a single playable file on your computer. Nothing is sent to an outside server for merging.

Can I choose the resolution?

Yes, from the resolutions the site actually offers. If a page serves 1080p, 720p and 480p, all three appear in the popup and you pick one. Vidow never upscales or re-encodes.

Can I download only the audio?

Yes. When a separate audio track is available, you can save just the sound instead of the whole video.

Why doesn't Vidow detect the video on a page?

Usually the video hasn't started loading yet, so press play for a second and check again. Some players only load their stream after you interact with them. Some sites also serve DRM-protected content, which Vidow deliberately leaves alone.

A download failed halfway through. What now?

Start it again. Vidow picks up from the segments it already has instead of starting over. If it keeps failing on the same page, send us the URL and we'll look into it.

Plans and billing

What's the difference between the plans?

Only how you pay. Monthly is $19.90 a month. Yearly is $142.80 a year, which is 40% less per month. Lifetime is a single $199 payment. All three unlock exactly the same features.

Where do I actually pay?

Inside the extension, not on this website. Open the Vidow popup and choose Upgrade to go through a secure checkout.

How do I cancel?

Open the extension and cancel from your plan settings. You won't be charged again, and you keep full access until the end of the period you've already paid for.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. Every plan comes with a 14-day money-back guarantee. Email us your order number and we'll take care of it.

How many computers can I use my plan on?

You can use it on any computer you own. Plans are for one person and shouldn't be shared with anyone else.

Privacy and legal

Do you collect my browsing history?

No. Vidow only looks at a tab when you ask it to, and it never sends your browsing activity anywhere. Our privacy policy explains exactly what the extension stores on your computer.

Are my files uploaded to your servers?

Never. Downloads go directly from the site hosting the video to your browser, and any merging happens on your computer. We're not in between, so we couldn't see your files even if we wanted to.

Still have a question?

Send us the page you're trying to download from and we'll take a look. A real person replies, usually within three business days.
